KNOWLEDGEYour own seed treater or a treatment service?
A farm that treats its seed has two options: outsource the treatment or invest in its own seed treater. Below is an overview of what to consider when making this decision.
External treatment service
- No upfront investment — you only pay for the service performed.
- The unit cost (zł per tonne) depends on the service provider and recurs with every batch.
- The timing of treatment depends on the service provider's availability, not just on your own schedule.
Your own seed treater
- One-off investment — the net price of a specific model, see price list.
- Full control over the timing and quality of seed treatment — no waiting for a service provider.
- The variable cost per tonne (seed dressing, energy, any labour) depends on your farm — it's a cost you know better than anyone.
- If the price you currently pay for an external service is higher than your own variable cost, investing in your own machine starts to pay off — the only question is how quickly.
In this comparison, we deliberately do not state the price of a seed treatment service or the cost of the seed dressing — these figures depend on the market and your farm, not on us. Enter them in the calculator to see the result for your own data.
