KNOWLEDGEHow much does grain seed treatment cost?
The cost of treating seed and grain consists of two different components, depending on whether you treat on your own farm or outsource it. This article explains what drives this cost and how to calculate it for your own farm.
Two cost models
External service — you pay for each tonne of treated grain, with no investment of your own. The price per tonne depends on the service provider, region and type of treatment product — this is data we do not have in our price list, as it concerns the service market rather than our machines. You know best what the service costs (or would cost) in your area.
Your own seed treater — a one-off investment in the machine (net price from our price list) plus the variable cost of each tonne: treatment product, energy, and any labour. The amount of this variable cost depends on which treatment product you use and how your farm is organised — this, too, is not a figure we can provide on your behalf.
Net prices, valid until 2026-12-31.
How to calculate whether your own seed treater pays off
If you know (or can estimate) the price of an external service per tonne and your variable cost of treating in-house, you can calculate the annual savings and payback period for a specific model — simply enter these two figures in the calculator; the model price and capacity are filled in automatically from the price list.
